About

Satori was started in 2002 by Steven Jess Borth II.  He had been touring the U.K for many years and in that time he had fallen in love with the classic Jamaican sound.  Whenever he would arrive at a venue he would load his equipment, do the sound check and then run off to the local record shop usually minutes before they closed.  On his search for the old dub and rocksteady records he started to realize that this obsession was not going to go away anytime soon.

The first Satori sessions were done in a garage with a Tascam 388 tape machine.  This would be the weapon of choice for almost all of the Satori recordings.  The thin tape captured the essence that he was looking for.  Simple folk music done in a traditional way.

From that first day in the garage Satori started to form into a community of musicians.  Steve had been in many bands in the past and wanted to try something that could be fresh and new.  For almost every show or recording a different arrangement of musicians worked with Steve.

Leaves May Fall is a showcase of some of those musicians.  It was recorded with the Tascam 388.  Leaves May Fall was the first session were Steve was alone at the controls and he to figure out how everything really worked.  It was a long, but fun task but it is here now.
